Busy Saturday
Yesterday was a busy day for us. It started out bright and early at the YMCA for the Women's Distance Festival. This was the first time I ran this race and it was great! I'm going to try and do it every year. First off, if you registered in time, you got a beach towel, an insulated lunch box, a pair of technical fabric socks and every finisher gets a hat. Of course, I forgot to register on time, but I still got a t-shirt, the socks, and the finisher hat. And they had great door prizes, too! I didn't win, but they called every number around mine. One lady won a Vera Bradley bag, 2 people got free nights at a hotel, there were bunches of $25 and $50 gift certificates to local restaurants, even a free cone at Ben & Jerry's. All in all, a well put together race.
Sofia and I pre-race.
One of my old coworkers, Roz, and I just after the race started. She's in pink on the left and I'm green in the middle.Right after I crossed the finish line.
In my finishers hat.Sofia was wore out after all that girl power!
After the race, we went home to get cleaned up and rested for the Dave Matthews Band concert. Of course, like the big nerd that I am, I look at the website before we go and it says it is illegal to consume alcohol in the parking lots, no cameras, and no chairs more than 9 inches of the ground. So, we ate on the way over and we left our camera at home. We get there and people are tailgating bigger than some people do for Clemson games, beer and wine in hand in front of the cops. And we get inside and there are cameras galore! Luckily, there were only a handful of chairs that were high of the ground, most were beach chairs or blankets. It was great, but since I'm a big nerd, we don't have one picture of it. And Miss Sofia was a trooper! She played on the blanket, sat in the chairs, made friends with everyone around, danced, and even did a Gene Simmons impression! She was great. She even slept in my arms the last hour of the concert and didn't request that we leave early. To quote Marc, "I've got the touch" if I can get her to sleep (and snore) through a rock concert. I like to think she's a laid back, happy baby, maybe with a little touch of hippie in her. She's already got the tie-dyed t-shirt.

We haven't been back to the doctor. Whoo hoo! I'm hoping the ears are better, but she has been playing with them (let's hope it's just habit now). She hasn't been too fussy or feverish, so I'm trying to hold off until our appointment on Tuesday. I'm planning on running a women's only 5K on Saturday. And we are going to see Dave Matthews Band Saturday night. This was Marc's birthday present to me. I'm excited. I haven't been to a concert in forever! Next weekend we are traveling to Ohio to visit my grandparents and aunts and uncles. The weekend after that we are going to Richmond so that my friend Michelle and I can run/bike the Muddy Buddy relay. Sofia is consistently saying "Momma" now. =) And "Dada", of course, and she gives kisses! Big, wet, open mouth, slobbery ones. But they're great! Here are a few pictures I just got off the camera.
Wasssup!Ok, Daddy, I'll wear your White Sox t-shirt. But just so you know, I'm really a Braves fan!
What do you mean, this empty ice cream container is trash? It's a toy!

Congrats Norma & Bob
Marc's brother, Bob, got married this weekend to Norma. Sofia and I decided not to go because I didn't want to risk the change in cabin pressure on a kid with ear infections. Can you see it now, coming in on the red-eye with a screaming 9 month old while everyone else is trying to sleep?
Here are some pictures from the weekend.

Ear update
We went back to the doctor, yet again today. They are taking all my money this month! Her ears look much better, but there is still cloudy fluid in them (which could easily get reinfected). We got the last shot of Rocephin (sp?). Her 9 month check up is on July 1, which, assuming that the ears don't get worse between now and then, is the perfect length of time to go before a recheck on the ears. We were also referred to an ENT specialist, just to be safe. We have our appointment with him on July 11. Wish us happy ears for the next 3 weeks and no visits in between.

My poor girl
You guessed it, back at the doctor. We went back last Friday because she was still running a temp, so they squeezed us in that afternoon. As the doctor said, same bad ears, same temperature, now with diarrhea. So she switched us off that antibiotic and onto another. She said if she didn't improve over the weekend to bring her back in Monday. She ran a temp all weekend, cried and whimpered a lot, and just wasn't herself (which made for a fun Father's Day). And last night she didn't sleep very well. Marc was up with her from midnight until about 4 and then I had the next shift. We went back to the doctor this morning. She still has the ear infections. They gave her a shot of stronger antibiotics. She can have this shot up to 3 times. We go back on Wednesday to see how things have changes and possibly get another shot. The doctor said that if this doesn't work, they will refer us to an ENT specialist.

Sofia Dance's
My mom just thought this was the funniest thing when she saw Sofia do it for the first time. She requested that I get a little video and put it up for my dad and everyone else to see.

I'm a sucker for a contest
Pastaqueen is having a contest to promote her book, Half-Assed. Click here for details. I've already read her book and it's great! She had me laughing and stopping long enough to read bits and bytes back to my hubby.

Goings on...
We went to the doctor on Friday to check her weight and her ears. Both ears were clear, but had fluid behind them (doc said to watch her, it could develop into an ear infection). And her weight was up almost a pound (in just 2 weeks!)...I'm telling you, this girl can eat when she's feeling good. Over the weekend, she started pulling, tugging on, and sticking her fingers in her ears. Sunday night she had a temp of 101.7. Monday morning we were back in the sick clinic, you guessed it, ear infection. A double ear infection this time. So we are on yet another type of antibiotic, this one seems to effect her tummy worse than the last two. I asked the doctor, and she said there is no worry about hearing issues from all this. And to make things even more interesting, I do believe we have more teeth coming in on the bottom. She is drooling lots more than normal and I think I saw the beginnings of a white spot pushing on the gums (hard to tell when she won't let you look in her mouth).
My mom has been in town this week. We decided to go get pictures made of her, Sofia, and I, 3 generations. Here are a few of the best. Sofia was a trooper. In 90% of the photos you'd never know she wasn't feeling good.

Race for the Cure
Sofia, Marc, and I ran the Race for the Cure this morning. There were people everywhere! As we were coming in, the announcer said there were about 50,000 people registered to run/walk. We can't be exactly sure of how fast we ran...it took forever to finally get moving faster than a walk because there were so many people. And then again as we finished, we stood in line just to get across the finish line. But we ran the whole time and we weren't last, and those are always my two goals when it comes to a race...oh yeah, and to have fun!
