Trick or Treat

We took Sofia trick or treating with our friend Michelle and her daughter Lolly, Lolly's dad, and a few neighborhood kids.

Mommy, what are we going to do with it?

What is all that stuff in there?

Even Jack had to check out what was inside there.
Are you sure you want to stick your hands in that stuff?

Yea! My jack-o-lantern.

Marathon Weekend

Picking out our pumpkin...actually picking out Sofia's mini pumpkin. It was raining out, so we didn't get any pictures with the big pumpkins.

Waiting on Daddy to finish the marathon.

The Shirt That Races

Go check this blog out. I've committed to wear it in a half marathon in Annapolis, MD in May. Beth and I are going to run the Zooma Women's Half Marathon in May 2009. And Beth committed to wear it at a race in SC this December. I thought it was a neat idea! Check out NikeMomof2's blog for her contact info if you are interested.

I got a hair cut!

And I love it! I hope that it looks half this good tomorrow when I style it myself. She almost got all of the bad haircut (from December 2007) cut out. (Can you believe it has taken a year to recover from such a bad haircut??) The shortest layer from that hair cut is just a tad shorter than the rest of my hair. She blended it very nicely and said that next time, or the time after that, we should be able to get it all one length without going too short.

Busy weekend

We had a busy weekend. Friday, our good friend, Steve, re-enlisted in the Air Force and we went to his ceremony. Saturday, we went to the local homecoming parade. Michelle's daughter, Lolly, was in the parade with her brownie troop. Here are a few pics from the weekend.

Great Weekend

Beth was here all weekend. We went to a winery, had a girls dinner out, went consignment sale shopping, watched cheezy 80's movies, and took naps. It was great. We found a great wine at Hidden Brook Winery. It's a slightly sweet, rose wine, but both of us tend to like the sweeter wines. Even their Cabernet Sauvignon was great, and I don't traditionally like red wines. I got some great stuff for Sofia at the consignment sale, to include a $20 pack-n-play for Mimi and Papa's house. Of course, neither Beth nor I thought to take any pictures.

Sofia is still doing great post surgery. She hates the drops we have to put in her ears, but I don't blame her. Her second molar on the top is almost through. You can see the gums bulging and a little white spot where it is going to break through. And she has added another word to her vocabulary, dog. Although it sounds more like "og."

Our Lil' Obi One...

She was so cute in her little hospital gown (I wish they made adult hospital gowns this nice...so warm, fuzzy, and inviting). She kinda looked like something out of Star Wars (although these pictures aren't the greatest). Thank God Marc didn't think to snap one of me in my get-up I had to wear in with her!

Post-Op Update

Surgery went great! (And it was super quick!) The doctor cleaned out some fluid/mucus which he said was like molasses (yuck!). Watching her come out of anesthesia was the worst part of the whole ordeal. But now, you'd never know she had surgery this morning. She busy, into everything, climbing all over me, giggling. But if you think about it, this is the first time she hasn't had fluid of some sort behind her ear drums since the beginning of May. I equate it to getting an epidural while in labor, instant relief!

We are gonna go get lunch and fill her prescriptions. Then we need to tidy house, Beth is coming to visit tomorrow night. We have a girls night out and consignment sale shopping planned.

Cookie Monster

I enjoyed this post over at GiggleSugar. The post is called: Cookie Monster on The Colbert Report. I think the title of the post explains it all but basically it is a very funny conversation between Stephen Colbert and Cookie Monster about why Cookie has stopped eating cookies ALL the time and instead eats vegetables and other good foods. The post made me smile and I hope it does the same for you.

Pre-Op

Sofia just had her pre-op appointment. Everything is a go for Thursday morning. We won't know what time her surgery is until tomorrow. I have to call the surgical center tomorrow to get her surgery time. The current ear infection is getting better, but it is still there. Once she has the tubes, we'll be able to put drops right into her ears. There are some pros and cons to this. Pro - the medicine goes right to the problem and doesn't affect her tummy. Con - getting a 1 year old to lie still on her side so you can get a drop in.

On another front, she cut her first molar on the top Saturday. And the doctor said the matching one on the other side is going to cut in a day or two. I'm thinking this is why she's not sleeping through the night the past few nights. I'll be sure to update post surgery, by the weekend at the latest.

Army 10 Miler

I ran the Army 10 Miler this past Sunday, and I'm so glad that I did. I haven't really trained for it like I have in the past, like not really at all. But I finished in 2 hours and 5 seconds, a 12:01 per mile pace, which is great for me right now. I'm still really liking my Running 101 class that I'm taking 2 nights a week and I think I'm going to sign up for their spring class when this one is done.

Here are a few pictures from yesterday, and throughout the weekend...
Pre-race (look like I just crawled out of bed, don't I...)

Post Race (don't look too shabby for having just run 10 miles)

12 month check-up

Sofia went to the doctor yesterday for her 12 month check up. She's happy and healthy, minus the ears. And everything seems to be lining up with where it should be. She's walking, feeding herself, using a sippy cup, drinking milk, sleeping 12 hours a night. She didn't get any shots, which I'm sure she is thrilled about. She can't have them within 2 weeks of her surgery in case there is any type of reaction. She did have a double ear infection, with the right being worse than the left. We got more drugs and we go back next Tuesday for her pre-op appointment and to look in at the ears.

Her stats...
Height: 29.25 in (50%)
Weight: 23 lbs 11oz (75%)
Head Circumfrance: 47 cm (85%)

So, she's got a big grape....gotta store all that brain power somewhere!
