Nike+

My Nike+ still works! I took it to interval training last night. :) I felt like crap, so that is reflected in the time and the fact that I didn't go very far. (I had run a half mile before that and walked a quarter mile as a warm up, so I really did 1.75 miles, not the 1 mile reflected).

On the feeling like crap front, Sofia seems to be doing much much better. I wish I could say the same for myself. My cold turned into a sinus infection. :( I'm on antibiotics and a decongestant. I will say the pain/pressure/headache has subsided, but I still have super snot. I have traded the sinus pressure for a queasy-ness I get every night when I take my meds (hence the short time at the track last night). And anyone I talk to on the phone says, "Oh my, you sound horrible!" We will be at the beach on Saturday and I am hoping the sea salt air has magical healing powers for my nose.

Silly Dog

Isn't Jack silly?Sofia showing Daddy all her toysSofia and PapaSofia in one of the new outfits Mimi sent with Papa (it's such a good color for her)
And I've had some inquiries, yes we are feeling better. Both Sofia and I are still a little snotty, but overall much better. I think after a couple days of good sleep and naps, she'll be feeling much better. Speaking of, she's been napping for almost 2 hours and doesn't show signs of getting up any time soon. Just what she needed!

4th of July Pics

I finally got a copy of the 4th of July pictures.

And we're sick

Sofia's got a cold. Luckily, her ears don't seem to bother her. It's just the all the snot, not being able to breathe when she lays down (yes, that means she has pretty much slept in someone's arms all weekend), and us constantly coming at her with a Kleenex. And, my little girl has already learned how to share....she's sharing her cold with me. I hate summer colds!

She's going to hate me one day for making these public, but just to give you an idea of how bad she felt.

New Shoes

Sofia got new shoes yesterday. ;) She is so close to being able to walk, we figured we better have something for her to wear out of the house for when she decides she wants to toddle around a restaurant and their nasty floor. (They should make good beach shoes, too.)

And here are a few random pics.
Sofia woke up with a snotty nose this morning. I hope it's just a snotty nose and not the ears acting up again (she tends to get a snotty nose with the ears, too). We'll keep an eye on her the rest of the weekend. Doesn't she looks like she feels horrible?

Ear Update

I forgot to update about Sofia's ears. They were not infected when we were at the ENT last Friday, however, she did have some fluid in one. The doctor explained that having fluid in one of your ears is like putting your finger in your ear and then trying to hear clearly, which can delay speech development. So, they sent us for a hearing test. Her hearing was down just a tad, as to be expected with the fluid. They expect it to bounce right back once all the fluid is gone. The doctor told us to feed her in an upright position and to try and wean her from the binky. Sofia was not happy to hear this! We are in the process of weaning, she only gets it for naps, bedtime, and long car rides. So far, so good. She really doesn't need it during the day unless she gets bored. Although, when I picked her up yesterday at daycare, her teacher told me she tried to steal everyone else's binky. I thought that was funny. We've taken to calling her the Binky Bandit. Anyone got any helpful tips on weaning a child off the pacifier?

Here are Michelle's daughter and the Binky Bandit from Sunday's Muddy Buddy.
She does have her binky, but it was a long car ride, an early morning (we left the house at 3am), and an overall off-her-schedule kind of day, so we let her have it when she wanted it.

We go back to our pediatrician in August to check for fluid and iron levels (oh yeah, she's slightly anemic and on iron supplements) and we go back to the ENT in September to check for fluid again.

Muddy Buddy

Michelle and I ran the Muddy Buddy relay this morning and we finished in 1 hour and 13 minutes and got really dirty. There were 5 legs with an obstacle at the end of each leg, with the last obstacle being a giant mud pit. Each team member either ran or biked a leg, did the obstacle, and then switch from running to biking, or vice versa.

This is us right before we entered the mud pit. If you click on the image and enlarge it, I think you can see the arrows I put on the picture.
This is me in the mud pit. Michelle was just on the other side of me. (Again, click on the image to blow it up and see the arrow.)

Happy 4th (a little late)

I hope everyone had a great 4th. We sure did. I was waiting to post in hopes that I would get copies of my dad's pictures, because I didn't take but 2! Can you believe it, the girl who keeps a camera in her purse only took 2 pictures.

We took Sofia to Ohio to meet her great-grandparents and visit with my dad's brother (and his family) and my mom's sister (and her family). Sofia was a trooper! We got up and left at 2am Thursday morning and she slept most of the way and was pleasant the whole time (even with a double ear infection). She had her first taste of mashed potatoes, Multigrain Cheerios, potato chips, Flubs (a great ice cream place in Hamilton), chicken nuggets. It was an exciting weekend. Sofia also got in the swimming pool for the first time (the pictures are on Papa's camera). She also got to stay up way past her bedtime every night.

There were some great pictures of Sofia in the pool, 4 generations (Grandma, Dad, Me, Sofia), Sofia loving on her toy. I'll share once I get them.

Today we are heading off to the ENT specialist and we have dinner plans with Michelle and her brother. Sunday is the MuddyBuddy. Wish me luck!
