Insert title...(sorry, can't think of anything)

The girls are coming tonight. Marc left yesterday, so it's just been me and the animals since yesterday at 5am. We finally got the girls room finished and put back together. Well, mostly put back together. I still need to put the airvent back up but I can't find the screws, so I might leave that one for Marc. Everything is pretty much ready for the girls. I just need to vacumm and run a load of laundry. It's too bad I can't get Jack to vacumm and Coda to do the laundry. =)

Jack and I went for a walk this morning, not quite 2 miles. It was nice out. Definitely need to get up before 8am if you want to enjoy the breeze and the cooler air. (That's kinda hard during the work week.....I already start work at 6am, I'm not getting up any early.) I also walked 2 other times this week. Marc is going to run the Marine Corps Marathon again this year (it'll be his 5th time). And our friend Michelle has decided she is going to run it as well (her first). (I must admit, it didn't bother me much during the winter, but now that everyone is getting ready for races and the weather is getting nice, I'm missing running. Definitely going to sign up for a 10 miler or half marathon for next spring...give me a deadline to get back into shape.) Anyway, we've been meeting Michelle at the middle school track 2 days a week. Marc and Michelle run at their own paces and I walk at mine. So, all this to say that I walked at the track Monday and Wednesday as well.

Off to teach the cat and the dog how to help with household chores.

Race for the Cure

Today Miss Sofia finished her second 5k! Pretty impressive considering she's not even born yet. Marc and I walked the National Race for the Cure this morning. The pretty stinky thing, though, there were only official times for the first hour of the race..basically for all the runners. We came across the finish at 1 hour 15 minutes. I really wanted an official time, too. We probably could have had an official time, but they didn't start the walkers until 15 minutes after the runners. And then there were so many walkers out there too, just sauntering along at a turtle's pace. So, if we'd started at 8 with the runners and didn't have everyone in our way, we might have had an official time. =) And, on top of all that, I think I actually got more like 5 miles in today instead of just the 3.2 of the actual race. Thanks to this wonderful website, www.gmap-pedometer.com, I tracked all the walking we did this morning. We walked over a mile from the metro stop to the port-o-potties (I'm pregnant, what can I say, I've always got to go), and then wandering around all the vendors. And I'm sure we got even more distance when we walked back to the starting line. Then after the race, we walked 0.8 miles from the finish line through the water/food station to visit more vendors and back to the metro. So, 1 + 0.8 + 3.2 = 5. I'm gonna need a nap this afternoon or an early bed time.

We've also been painting the baby's room. It's not quite done. We have to tape the wood work and do the edges, but it's almost done. The color is called Palm Breeze, but it's really a very light shade of a sage green. It matches one of the colors in the baby's bedding and it also is very close to a color in the comforters we have on the day bed for the girls. I'm hoping that it ties everything together. Speaking of the girls, they'll be here next Saturday for 2 weeks. I'm really looking forward to having 2 weeks off from work and being able to spend time with them (and sleep in!).

I'll leave you with pictures of me and Sofie in our Race for the Cure t-shirt...this is me at 24 weeks (6 months). These pictures are in the baby's room, so you can kinda see the new color on the wall behind me. (Oh, and disregard the bad hair....I'm trying to grow it out again. I really didn't feel like styling it when I got out of the shower and I'm tired of pony tails that don't hold it all. I tried the double french braid. Doesn't look too hot...)

It seems like Marc has gotten more paint on himself than the walls.

This kind of gives you an idea of the paint color...kinda...

We had yet another wedding this past weekend. I think this is the end of wedding season for us. Marc was again in the sword detail, but this time he got to wear his Staff Sergeant rocker on his uniform. He was very excited. Long story short, the Marine Corps screwed up his end of service date and had him in the reserves until 2020, so they promoted him on April 1, 2007. He called and got everything straightened out and his end of service date now is the middle of April now instead of last December.

And a couple others of the happy day.

The cutie flower girl.

Happy Birthday to Me!

Today is my 28th birthday. It was a relatively easy going and uneventful birthday. I worked today and then Marc and I went to Outback for dinner. We had steaks to cook at home, but I just didn't feel like cooking on my b-day. Marc got me the Nike+ system for my iPod. Now, what is the Nike+ for my iPod, you say? It's this cool thingy that fits into the bottom of an iPod Nano and a piece that goes in or attaches to your shoe and it calculates how far you run or walk. And Lance Armstrong talks to you through your iPod telling you've reached milestones or goals, etc. I know, I'm not doing much running lately. But I'm trying to get in the swing of walking the dog at least 20 minutes every day and this might just give us the incentive to get out the door and walk some more. We've got a new toy to play with. =)

Baby's good and moving around. Marc's felt her twice now. She was thumping around in there last night, just like Thumper. She might have a new nickname. Marc would have definitely felt her more last night if he hadn't been out with the dog. He came in at the tail end of her Thumper impression and only felt her once.

Happy Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day to all you moms out there. I'm not technically a mom yet, but I am a step-mom and a mom-to-be. So we got up and went to breakfast and then visited some used book stores this morning. We got groceries on our way home. It's been a very low key day, which is good! We had a busy Friday and Saturday. Marc was in a wedding yesterday and was also in charge of the sword detail. So that meant that we had to be in Quantico, VA Friday night for the rehersal and yesterday for the wedding. Traffic was horrible Friday, it took us 2 hours and 45 minutes to get there Friday night (should have taken 30-45mins). Saturday we got there 4 hours before the wedding so that Marc could practice the sword detail with all the guys, then the wedding, then the reception.

Since we were at a wedding and all dressed up, I got a belly shot. And I'm gonna post some pictures of the good looking Marines. =)

...

It's been awhile since I've updated. Miss Sofia is moving around more and more...I suppose, she's been moving the whole time, so maybe I should say that I've been feeling it more and more. Yesterday, Marc put his hand my belly and he actually felt her kick too! That was pretty cool for him. Up until now, he's only been able to really take part in things at the doctor's appointments when he heard the heart beat and see the ultrasounds. I don't have any more belly shots. But we are going to a wedding this weekend, so I plan to get lots of photos.

Movement and a Name

I think I felt her for the first time last night! I wasn't sure last night, I thought it was her. I talked to some pregnant women at work today and asked my mom and some other ladies, and now I'm pretty sure I felt her. It felt like a a muscle twitching in my lower right abdomen, almost flutter like. I'm 20 weeks today, or 4.5 months along, so this is about the right time to start feeling things. I'm excited that I'll be able to feel her on a more regular basis, it is assuring. I can't wait to feel her again!

Onto the name game...we have nailed down her name (barring anything drastic coming up). Our baby girl is going to be Sofia Claire.

That's about all that's new here. We bought a changing table over the weekend, so now we've got to find a crib we like that "matches." The animals went to the vet on Monday and Tuesday and both have minor issues, but hopefully, they'll be feeling better in a couple of weeks. And we've bought the air plane tickets for the girls to come visit this summer. I'm taking time off from work to visit with the girls while they are here. I'm looking forward to having a mini-vacatin in June.
